A Transformative Journey : Uwineza Marie Grace

Hello, I am Uwineza Marie Grace, currently pursuing general nursing at the University of Rwanda, Rwamagana branch. I am privileged to have been a beneficiary of FAWE Rwanda’s assistance since 2016.

Prior to my inclusion in the FAWE Rwanda and Mastercard Foundation Scholarship program, my life was riddled with hardship. I was born into a family with limited means, struggling to provide basic necessities, let alone cover our educational expenses. With many siblings to cater to, my parents found it incredibly difficult to make ends meet.

The journey through primary and middle school was a series of challenges. Acquiring school supplies and settling school fees was a recurring issue that often led to my expulsion, despite the modest tuition fees set by the 9-year basic education system.

However, FAWE Rwanda’s intervention was a turning point in my life. With their support, my academic pursuits have been unhindered, and the financial aid from the scholarship has been instrumental. Not only did I manage to purchase a computer, replacing the one unfortunately stolen after being initially provided by FAWE Rwanda, but I also have been able to support my family towards a more stable lifestyle.

The transformation I have experienced is profound, and I am eternally grateful for FAWE Rwanda’s role in reshaping my future.
